Becca Thorne - The Illustrator of the family

Becca is my older sister and is a freelance lino-printing illustrator. You may well be thinking "lino-printing, hmm that sounds interesting" and you'd be right!! Takes a lot of skill and patience to be able to make a beautiful piece of art by cutting into lino, but Becca is able to produce something amazing everytime.

Commissions come from all kinds of different places, from cd covers to magazines. And the work she produces is always unique and beautiful. You should definately check out her work on her website http://www.beccathorne.co.uk/ and she also has a blog on here aswell http://beccathorne.blogspot.com/ go look at that too, you know you've got the time! There are different pieces of work on both sites, and if you're interested in learning more about lino printing there is a little tutorial on her blog too. Ever the helper that one!

Coldy McCold!

It was damned cold when i got up this morning, so cold infact that I had to wear a cardy AND socks....still wore shorts though (don't say anything about socks with shorts i'm in my house it's all good!) i'm not going down the trouser route during the day yet until my knees are blue.

But I thought i'd post some snowy pics to fit in with the cold. I really enjoy taking snow photos because they can be really hard to get right or make interesting. Limited Editions

Each image is in a run of 150, professionally framed and meausring 40" x 30" so they're big 'uns!! And for anyone who's interested they are all taken on a Graflex large format camera using Ilford FP4 +125 black and white sheet film.

Where's a "Ladies Ring" when you want one?!!

Okay so I am applying to a freelance postion as product photographer for a small company and they have asked applicants to send 5 shots of these things :- Coathanger/bedside table/3 pairs of shoes/envelope/ladies ring. So far i've got everything bar the ring! Damn that ring! The idea is to make these some what boring things look presentable and make someone want to buy them, so i've done what i could with what i could find. After all i'm not Argos!ha!

Here are the four things I have so far, I've got till next week to sort the ring and photograph it.

This is one photograph honest, but i put two images of the coathanger in one becasue i felt it looked better.

Now all i need is to fill this space with a nice ring photograph!

Aluminium Printing

Aluminium printing is something that I'm offering for some of my pictures on Dotty Gallery. It's not archival - the "normal" prints I sell are archival of course but Aluminium are not. I have to make that clear you see because I would hate for someone to think aluminium printing is what they want and then 2/3 years down the line pictures have started fading.

But this is more of an interesting feature for the home or office, something that can be changed constantly perhaps. The images that really work well on aluminium are ones that have a lot of contrast or strong colours. Pictures like these below: -

Dead Things Photograph Well!

It might seem a bit strange but I do enjoy photographing dead things! Slowly i seem to be getting a small portfolio of dead animals that I've photographed, i'll pop a few of the best pictures up below for you to see. I try not to mess around with them and show the creatures the respect that they deserve...oh and just so you know, I found them like this I had nothing to do with their end honest!!
